New Algorithm Increases Accuracy of Data from Exoplanets
Recently, Indian astronomers from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, have developed an algorithm that can increase the accuracy of data from exoplanets.
Context
- Photometric Transit Method: In their study of exoplanets, scientists use the photometric transit method in which they gather photometric data from several planet hosting stars.
- Noise: However, the transit signals are heavily affected by the noise due to various sources that pose a challenge to estimate the physical parameters of the planets accurately.
