Random Forest
Recently, researchers used random forest models to analyse chemical fingerprints in ancient rocks and identify whether certain molecules came from life or natural processes.
- The term “random forest” refers to a machine-learning method that makes predictions by combining the outputs of many simpler models called decision trees.
- It means that instead of relying on a single tree which can overfit the data, the algorithm builds many trees, each trained on slightly different random samples, and then aggregates their answers.
