Bharat Forecast System
On 26th May 2025, Union Earth Sciences Minister unveiled one of the world’s first indigenously developed high-resolution ‘Bharat Forecast System (BSF)’.

- High-Resolution Forecasting: Enhances forecasting resolution from 12 km to 6 km, enabling village-specific weather predictions.
- Powered by Women: Project led by four women scientists, echoing PM vision of ‘Nari Shakti’.
- AI-Driven Real-Time Modeling: Utilizes the Triangular Cubic Octahedral Grid model to deliver real-time, precise predictions.
How does the BFS work?
- Uses high-performance computing systems ‘Arka’ (IITM Pune) and ‘Arunika’ (NCMRWF Delhi).
- Supports accurate and timely weather forecasts across India.
