Maiden Salvo Launch of NASM-SR Missile

On 29th April 2026, India successfully conducted the maiden salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Short Range (NASM-SR) system.

  • The DRDO and Indian Navy conducted the missile launch from a naval helicopter platform off Odisha’s Bay of Bengal coast.
  • Two missiles were launched in quick succession, marking India’s first salvo launch of an advanced air-launched anti-ship missile system.
  • The missile successfully demonstrated waterline hit capability during the trial.
  • NASM-SR uses a solid propulsion booster and a long-burn sustainer for enhanced strike capability.
