Bambi Bucket
On 27th April, 2024, the Indian Air Force deployed an MI 17 V5 helicopter equipped with a Bambi Bucket to douse forest fires in Nainital district, Uttarakhand.
Understanding the Bambi Bucket
- The Bambi Bucket is a specialized aerial firefighting tool invented in 1982 by Canadian businessman Don Arney.
- It is a lightweight collapsible container that releases water from underneath a helicopter using a pilot-controlled valve.
- The bucket can be quickly filled from various water sources, including lakes and swimming pools, enabling swift refills and efficient firefighting.
