India Advances Defence Capabilities with Key Procurement Agreements

In April 2026, India signed defence contracts worth Rs. 858 crore for the procurement of the Tunguska Air Defence Missile System and maintenance support for the Indian Navy’s P8I aircraft fleet, aimed at boosting the country’s air and maritime defence capabilities.

Key Highlights

Tunguska Air Defence Deal:

    • Rs.445 crore contract with JSC Rosoboronexport, Russia.
    • For Indian Army’s short-range air defence capability.

P-8I Maintenance Pact:

    • Rs.413 crore deal with Boeing India Defence Pvt Ltd.
    • Ensures depot-level maintenance with 100% indigenous content.
