Digantara’s SCOT Mission
On 17th January 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the successful launch of Indian space startup Digantara’s Space Camera for Object Tracking (SCOT), calling it a major step in space situational awareness and national security. SCOT enhances India's position in the growing global space economy.
Mission Details
- Historic First: SCOT is the world’s first commercial Space Situational Awareness (SSA) satellite.
- Enhanced Space Safety: It will track Resident Space Objects (RSOs) in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), ensuring safer space operations.
- High Precision Monitoring: Capable of detecting objects as small as 5 cm, improving orbital debris tracking.
