Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi)
Recently, state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) services nationwide, aiming to improve call connectivity for users facing weak or inconsistent mobile network coverage.
- Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), also known as Wi-Fi Calling, allows users to make and receive voice calls and send SMS over a Wi-Fi connection, instead of relying solely on cellular towers.
- This ensures connectivity in areas with poor mobile signals, such as villages, remote regions, basements, offices and buildings with thick walls.
- Once enabled, compatible smartphones automatically switch between cellular networks and Wi-Fi during calls, depending on signal ....
