CERN Discovers New Particle “Xi-cc-plus” at Large Hadron Collider
On 17th March 2026, CERN announced the discovery of a new particle “Xi-cc-plus” at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
- It is the 80th particle identified by the world’s most powerful particle accelerator.
What is Xi-cc-plus?
- A type of baryon (particle made of three quarks).
- Composed of two charm quarks + one down quark.
- About 4 times heavier than a proton.
- Extremely short-lived and difficult to detect.
