INS Anjadip Commissioned
On 27th February 2026, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Anjadip, the fourth indigenously designed Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), at Chennai Port.
Key Features
- A 77-metre-long ASW Shallow Water Craft.
- Designed to detect, track and neutralise enemy submarines in coastal/littoral waters.
- Equipped with shallow-water sonars, lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets, and Combat Management System.
- Powered by water-jet propulsion; top speed of 25 knots.
- Capable of coastal surveillance, Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), and search & rescue.
Construction & Indigenisation
- Built at Kattupalli by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
- Equipped with indigenous weapons and sensor suites.
