LCH Prachand Sortie
On 27th February 2026, Indian President undertook a sortie in the indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter Prachand at Air Force Station Jaisalmer.
- Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Prachand is India’s first indigenously designed and developed dedicated attack helicopter.
- Specifically designed for operations in mountainous terrain, including the Siachen Glacier and Eastern Ladakh; capable of operating at altitudes above 16,000 feet.
- Narrow fuselage reduces radar signature; equipped with radar warning receivers (RWR), laser warning systems and countermeasure dispensing systems (chaff & flares).
