INCOIS Unveils ‘Integrated Ocean Energy Atlas’
On 13th September 2024, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) launched the ‘Integrated Ocean Energy Atlas,’ which illustrates the significant potential of ocean energy resources within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Energy Resource Potential
- The Atlas encompasses various marine energy forms, including meteorological (solar and wind) and hydrological (wave, tide, currents, ocean thermal, and salinity gradients) energy sources.
- INCOIS estimates the total integrated ocean energy potential within the Indian EEZ to be approximately 9.2 lakh terawatt hours (TWh) per year.
- The energy estimates are available through a WebGIS interface at a 5 km grid resolution, offering annual, monthly, and ....
