Balod: India’s First “Child Marriage-Free” District
- Recently, Balod district became the first in the country to be officially declared child marriage-free, with all 436 gram panchayats and nine urban bodies awarded formal certificates by the state government
- This achievement is considered a significant success in view of the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’ ‘Poshan Maah’ initiatives.
- Notably, the Child Marriage-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign was launched on 10 March 2024 under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.
