New Insect Species Discovered in Arunachal Pradesh
A team of entomologists has recently identified three new species of edible stink bugs from Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing our understanding of local insect biodiversity and traditional food practices.
- The discovered stink bugs, Coridius adii, Coridius insperatus, and Coridius esculentus, belong to the genus Coridius and the family Dinidoridae.
- Coridius adii is named after the Adi tribe, an indigenous group in Arunachal Pradesh that traditionally consumes this species; it is characterized by a pale brown to dark brown colouration with irregular yellow patches.
