India Successfully Test-Fires Agni-5 Ballistic Missile
On 20th August 2025, India successfully test-fired its intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni-5 from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur (Balasore district), Odisha. The test was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
What is Agni-5?
- An indigenously developed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a strike range of about 5,000 km.
- Designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- Part of India’s nuclear deterrence strategy to strengthen long-range strike capability.
