Buck Moon 2025
- The buck moon, which appeared on 10th July, was July’s first full moon. Traditionally named by the Algonquin Native Americans, it marked the time when male deer (bucks) began regrowing their antlers.
- This full moon appeared brighter and lower in the sky than usual due to its timing near the summer solstice, when the Sun reaches its highest point and the moon takes its lowest path across the night sky.
- This year’s buck moon was especially unique as it occurred shortly after Earth’s aphelion (when Earth is farthest from the Sun) and during a rare Major Lunar Standstill, which happens ....
