Indian Navy Launches Final ASW Shallow Water Craft ‘Ajay’
On 21st July 2025, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd., Kolkata, launched Ajay, the eighth and final Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Shallow Water Craft (SWC) for the Indian Navy.
What is Ajay?
- The last vessel in a series of 8 ASW Shallow Water Crafts being built by GRSE for the Indian Navy.
- Designed specifically for sub-surface warfare in coastal regions, with capabilities for joint air-sea anti-submarine missions.
- Successor to Abhay, which was launched nine months prior.
- INS Arnala, the first ship in the series, was commissioned into the Navy in June 2025.
