India Notifies Green Ammonia and Green Methanol Standards

On 27th February 2026, the Government of India notified Green Ammonia and Green Methanol Standards to promote the production and trade of green hydrogen derivatives under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

  • The standards were issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

What is the National Green Hydrogen Mission?

  • Launched in January 2023 with an outlay of Rs.19,744 crore.
  • Aims to make India a global hub for production, utilisation and export of green hydrogen.
  • Supports decarbonisation of key sectors such as energy, transport and industry.
