State of India’s Environment Report 2026
Recently, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) released the State of India’s Environment 2026, its annual report assessing environmental trends in India.
- Published since 1982, the report analyses issues such as climate change, extreme weather, wildlife behaviour, and air pollution.
Key Findings of the Report
Extreme Weather Events
- Extreme weather events increased sharply in 2025, occurring on 99% of days between January-November.
- These events caused 4,419 deaths and affected 17.41 million hectares of crops.
- In comparison, 2024 recorded extreme events on 88% of days with 3,393 deaths.
- Himachal Pradesh (267 days) experienced the highest number of extreme weather incidents, followed by Kerala ....
