Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI): Six-Year Conservation Work Programme
Recently, representatives from Central Asian countries endorsed a six-year work programme under the Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI) to strengthen transboundary conservation efforts for 17 iconic migratory mammal species.
Background
- The programme identifies priority transboundary conservation regions across Central Asia.
- The new work programme was adopted at the Third CAMI Range States Meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, under its CMS COP14 Presidency.
- It aims to address threats such as habitat fragmentation, poaching, climate change, and migration barriers.
