Samudra Pratap: India’s First Indigenous Pollution Control Vessel
On 23rd December 2025, Indian Coast Guard inducted Samudra Pratap, its first indigenously built Pollution Control Vessel (PCV), marking a significant step toward strengthening India’s marine environmental protection and oil spill response capability.
- Designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited, the vessel has over 60% indigenous content, supporting Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

- A dedicated marine pollution response vessel for oil spills and chemical contamination.
- First indigenously designed and built PCV in the Indian Coast Guard.
