Global E-Waste Monitor (GEM)

On 20th March, 2024, the United Nation’s fourth Global E-waste Monitor (GEM) report revealed alarming trends in electronic waste generation and recycling practices.

  • The report underscores that global e-waste generation is surging at an alarming rate, outpacing recycling efforts by a factor of five.
  • In 2022 alone, a staggering 62 million tonnes of e-waste were generated worldwide, an amount that could fill around 1.55 million 40-tonne trucks, painting a vivid picture of the magnitude of the issue.
