2030 Global Forest Vision: Priority Actions for Governments in 2025
On 19th March 2025, the Forest Declaration Assessment released the 2030 Global Forest Vision: Priority Actions for Governments in 2025, warning that governments must take immediate action to halt deforestation by 2030.
- The Forest Declaration Assessment is a comprehensive, civil society-led effort to assess collective progress toward global forest goals.
Key Findings
- Ongoing Forest Destruction despite Commitments: In 2023 alone, 6.37 million hectares of forests were lost—equivalent to nine million soccer fields. Deforestation is primarily driven by global demand for palm oil, soy, beef, and timber, particularly in the Amazon, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
