India & Maldives Strengthen Partnership
On 25–26 July 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Maldives and met President Mohamed Muizzu in Male. The visit marked a renewed push for regional cooperation, infrastructure development, and defence partnership between the two nations.

Development Financing
- Rs. 4,850 crore Line of Credit extended to Maldives — the first ever denominated in Indian rupees.
- Amendment signed to the existing dollar Line of Credit.
Trade & Economy
- Launch of negotiations for an India–Maldives Free Trade Agreement (IMFTA).
Fisheries & Aquaculture
- MoU signed to enhance cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Science & Environment
