Thailand-Cambodia Border Conflict

On 24th July 2025, Thailand launched F-16 airstrikes on Cambodian military positions along their disputed border, following deadly clashes. The strikes targeted Cambodian regional support units, amid fighting at six locations. Thai authorities have evacuated civilians from the conflict zone.

What triggered the latest clashes?

  • Landmine Incident: Thailand accused Cambodia of laying landmines inside Thai territory, injuring its soldiers.
  • Drone Surveillance Allegations: Thailand claims Cambodia used drones near Prasat Ta Muen Thom temple; Cambodia says Thailand provoked the attack.
  • Temple Flashpoint: The Hindu temple Prasat Ta Muen Thom, claimed by both nations, was a focal point of clashes.
