Israel Carries Out Airstrikes in Syria

On 16th July 2025, Israel launched powerful airstrikes on Damascus, citing the need to protect Syria’s Druze community amid escalating sectarian violence.

  • This marks Israel’s most significant military intervention in Syria since the regime change in late 2024.

Who are the Druze?

  • The Druze, also called Banu Ma’ruf (“the righteous people”), are an Arabic-speaking ethno-religious minority primarily based in southern Syria, Lebanon, and northern Israel.
