English language is a compulsory paper in Civil Services Mains examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. All the aspirants, who are declared qualified in preliminary examination, have to appear in this paper. In the 2015 notification for Civil services examination, UPSC declared the qualifying marks for the compulsory language paper to be 25% i.e 75 marks out of 300.
