India-Kyrgyzstan Bilateral Investment Treaty Comes into Force

On 5th June 2025, India and Kyrgyzstan officially put into effect a new Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), aimed at strengthening economic ties and ensuring a safe and predictable environment for investors in both countries.

Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT)

  • A Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) is an agreement between two countries to promote and protect investments made by investors from either country in the other.
  • The India-Kyrgyzstan BIT was originally signed on June 14, 2019, in Bishkek, and comes into force from June 5, 2025.
