Uranium Detected in Breast Milk
- A recent study has detected dangerous levels of Uranium (U-238) in the breast milk of lactating mothers across several districts of Bihar, raising serious health concerns for infants.
- The study is based on laboratory analysis of breast milk samples from 40 lactating mothers aged 17-35 years.
- The study was conducted between October 2021 and July 2024.
- The highest uranium concentration was found in districts such as Katihar and Khagaria, with one sample recording 5.25 micrograms per litre.
