As global attention intensifies around toxic chemical use, chlorpyrifos — a widely used but highly hazardous pesticide — came under renewed scrutiny at the Stockholm Convention which concluded on 9th May 2025 in Geneva.
What is Chlorpyrifos?
Chlorpyrifos is a broad-spectrum chemical pesticide used extensively in agriculture.
- It belongs to the class of organophosphates and is known to persist in the environment, making it a hazardous Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP).
