Tsarap Chu Conservation Reserve
- The Himachal Pradesh government has officially notified the Tsarap Chu Conservation Reserve in Lahaul-Spiti district, marking it as India’s largest conservation reserve to date.
- Spanning 1,585 square kilometres, the Tsarap Chu Conservation Reserve has been designated to protect Himalayan and Trans-Himalayan biodiversity.
- The reserve lies in one of Himachal Pradesh’s key snow leopard habitats, ensuring the protection of endangered species such as the snow leopard and Tibetan wolf.
- The reserve connects Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary and Chandertal Wildlife Sanctuary, acting as a critical wildlife corridor in the region.
