Global Climate Outlook (2025–2029)

In May 2025, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a global climate update covering projected temperature trends for the 2025–2029 period.

Key Projections

  • There is a 70% chance that the average global temperature between 2025 and 2029 will exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels (1850–1900).
  • There is an 80% chance that at least one year in this five-year span will surpass 2024—the hottest year on record.
  • The global mean near-surface temperature for each of these five years is expected to range between 1.2°C and 1.9°C above pre-industrial levels.
