India’s Mission to Restore the Aravalli Hills

On 21st May 2025, marking a landmark moment in India’s environmental restoration efforts, the Union government unveiled a Detailed Action Plan for Aravalli Landscape Restoration in Udaipur, Rajasthan, during a national workshop on the eve of the International Day for Biodiversity.

  • Whole-of-Government, Whole-of-Society Approach: Call for coordinated efforts by all four Aravalli states—Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, and Delhi—along with civil society and citizens.
  • Green Wall Project: Tied to ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Aravalli Green Wall aims to increase green cover, restore biodiversity, rejuvenate water bodies, and boost livelihoods.
