They maintained India's unity and integrity while ruling from Pataliputra. The Gupta age saw India's political unification after 500 years of Mauryan downfall. Their martial arts were effective. Large monarchy separated into pradesha (provinces). Gupta era was prosperous. Chinese traveller Fa-hien Magadh said the Gupta empire's power centre had many cities and rich people.
Ancient India's Guptas issued the most gold coins, called dinaras. Many gold and silver coins were issued, indicating economic health. Domestic and international trade flourished. ....
