WHO Recommends Injectable Lenacapavir for HIV Prevention
On 14th July 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) released new guidelines recommending injectable lenacapavir (LEN) twice a year as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) option for HIV prevention—marking a landmark policy shift unveiled at the International AIDS Society (IAS) 2025 conference in Kigali, Rwanda.
- LEN is the first twice-yearly injectable PrEP, offering a long-acting, highly effective alternative to daily oral pills—particularly beneficial for individuals facing stigma, daily adherence issues, or limited healthcare access.
