On 17th June 2025, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) released its Global Drought Outlook, highlighting the increasing frequency, and geographical spread of droughts globally.

Rising Atmospheric Temperatures

  • Increased Evaporation: Higher global temperatures (1.8°C above pre-industrial levels by 2023) lead to more evaporation, intensifying drought risk.
