Sea of Galilee Turns Blood-Red in Israel

On 8th August 2025, Israel’s Sea of Galilee turned bright red, sparking global attention and apocalyptic speculation.

Cause of the Phenomenon

  • The Israel Water Authority confirmed that a bloom of Botryococcus braunii, a green microalgae, produced a red pigment under intense sunlight.
  • Tests by the Research Laboratory confirmed the water remained safe for swimming, with no health risks.
