INS Anjadip Commissioned

On 27th February 2026, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Anjadip, the fourth indigenously designed Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), at Chennai Port.

Key Features

  • A 77-metre-long ASW Shallow Water Craft.
  • Designed to detect, track and neutralise enemy submarines in coastal/littoral waters.
  • Equipped with shallow-water sonars, lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets, and Combat Management System.
  • Powered by water-jet propulsion; top speed of 25 knots.
  • Capable of coastal surveillance, Low Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), and search & rescue.

Construction & Indigenisation

  • Built at Kattupalli by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
  • Equipped with indigenous weapons and sensor suites.
