16th ADMM-Plus EWG on Counter Terrorism

The 16th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)-Plus Experts Working Group (EWG) on Counter Terrorism (CT) was held from 14-16 January 2026 to strengthen regional cooperation against terrorism.

  • Focus on enhancing defence collaboration and addressing evolving security threats in the Indo-Pacific.

Host and Co-Chairs

  • Hosted by India in New Delhi.
  • Under the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus.
  • Co-chaired by India and Malaysia.

Key Outcomes

  • Reaffirmed commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.
  • Strengthened cooperation among ASEAN members and dialogue partners.
  • Agreement on future activities:
    • Tabletop Exercise in Malaysia (2026).
    • Field Training Exercise in India (2027).
