BBIN is a sub-regional grouping aimed at enhancing economic integration through connectivity. It serves as a functional alternative to SAARC, which remains stalled by bilateral friction.

BBIN Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA)

  • Signed in 2015, it allows seamless cross-border movement of passenger and cargo vehicles.
  • It reduces logistics costs and eliminates the need for transshipment at border points.
  • Currently, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal have finalised protocols to operationalise the agreement.
