Defence Ministry Signs Contract with TCIL for Digital Coast Guard Project

Recently, the Ministry of Defence entered into a contract with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) worth Rs 588.68 crore.
- The acquisition falls under the Buy (Indian) category, marking a strategic initiative for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
 
Key Points
- Pivotal Initiative for ICG: The Digital Coast Guard (DCG) project is a significant step for the ICG, encompassing the establishment of an advanced data centre, a robust disaster recovery data centre, enhanced connectivity across ICG sites, and the development of the ERP system.
 - Secured MPLS/VSAT Connectivity: The project leverages secured Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)/Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) connectivity, ensuring advanced and secure communication infrastructure.
 - Latest Technological Capabilities: The DCG project signifies the establishment of a tier-III data centre equipped with the latest technological capabilities.
 - It facilitates centralized monitoring and management of applications deployed by the ICG, ensuring vigilant oversight of critical IT assets.
 - Man-Days Generation: The project is estimated to generate around one and a half lakh man-days over five years, encouraging active participation from diverse sectors of Indian industries.
 - This aligns with the government's 'Atmanirbharta' in defence, contributing significantly to self-reliance efforts.
