The United States hosted the 2024 NATO Summit from 9th to 11th July 2024, in Washington, D.C., marking the historic 75th Anniversary of the Alliance.
Key Points
- On July 11th NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg wrapped up NATO’s 75th Anniversary Summit in Washington, D.C.
- At the Summit, Allies made decisions to further strengthen deterrence and defence, bolster long-term support to Ukraine and deepen global partnerships.
- Allies agreed to establish NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine, to coordinate the provision of military equipment and training for Ukraine.
- They also announced a pledge of long-term security assistance to Ukraine with a minimum baseline of 40 billion euros within the next year.
- The US announced a new security package for Ukraine worth $225m, which includes a Patriot missile battery, additional ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems and missiles, among other items.
- Norway will donate 1bn Norwegian kroner (USD92.69m) in support to Ukraine for its air defence.
- Ukraine’s president Zelenskiy urged Nato allies to lift restrictions on its use of long-range weapons against targets in Russia.

- A community of Allies bound together by common values of democracy, individual liberty, human rights and the rule of law.
- The 2025 NATO Summit will be held in The Hague, the Netherlands.
