Amardeep Singh Bhatia Appointed New DPIIT Secretary

On 21st August, 2024, Amardeep Singh Bhatia took charge as the Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), succeeding Rajesh Kumar Singh.
- Rajesh Kumar Singh, the former DPIIT Secretary, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Defence.
- Amardeep Singh Bhatia previously served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- Bhatia is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1993 batch, hailing from the Nagaland cadre.
- In the state government of Nagaland, he has managed key departments such as Planning and Coordination, Health and Family Welfare, Environment and Forest, and Municipalities and Local Self Government.
- The DPIIT, part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is tasked with developing and implementing policies to promote and develop India’s industrial sector.
