Global 'Choose Truth' Campaign

More than 100 countries, numerous news organizations, media associations, and individuals have joined the global 'Choose Truth' campaign in the lead-up to World News Day on 28th September.
- The campaign, launched on September 24, is organized by WAN-IFRA’s World Editors Forum and the Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF).
- The theme, 'Choose Truth,' was developed by Project Kontinuum, an initiative led by Daily Maverick founder Branko Brkic.
- Branko Brkic and Nobel laureate Maria Ressa emphasized the fight for truth in their joint article, advocating for decency and truth in public discourse.
- WAN-IFRA President Ladina Heimgartner highlighted the critical role of fact-based journalism in a world increasingly affected by misinformation.
- The campaign seeks to remind the public that truth is essential for a free and democratic society, especially in the face of false information.
- World News Day, observed annually on September 28, aims to highlight the important role of journalism in providing reliable information that supports democracy.
