Government Approves Key Agricultural Schemes

On 3rd Oct 2024, Union Cabinet approved the proposal for rationalization of all Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) operating under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s into two-umbrella Schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY), a cafeteria scheme and Krishonnati Yojana (KY).
Key Highlights
- Focus: Both schemes aim to improve food security, increase agricultural self-sufficiency, and address climate-resilient farming.
 - Implementation: The initiatives allow state governments to develop strategic, holistic agricultural plans tailored to their needs.
 - Challenges Addressed: The schemes tackle nutrition security, climate resilience, sustainability, value chain development, and encourage private sector participation.
 - Rationalisation: Centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) under the Ministry of Agriculture will be consolidated under these two schemes to avoid duplication and ensure better convergence.
 - Flexibility: States will have the autonomy to create comprehensive annual action plans for their agricultural sector in one go.
