‘Garud Shakti’ Military Exercise

On 1st November, 2024, the 9th edition of ‘Garud Shakti’ underscores India and Indonesia’s commitment to strengthened defense cooperation and enhanced interoperability between their Special Forces.

A 25-member Indian Army Special Forces contingent has traveled to Cijantung, Jakarta, to participate in ‘Garud Shakti 24,’ a joint military exercise with the Indonesian Special Forces, Kopassus, from November 1 to 12.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the primary aim of this exercise is to develop mutual understanding, cooperation, and familiarity with each side’s operational protocols and tactical maneuvers.
The training sessions will involve planning and executing specialized operations, focusing on jungle terrain warfare, strikes on simulated terrorist camps, and validation exercises incorporating both basic and advanced skills.
Participants will also share insights on weaponry, equipment, tactical innovations, techniques, and procedures to enhance interoperability and address evolving regional security threats.
As part of cultural exchange, the exercise includes activities allowing troops to gain insights into each other's lifestyle and cultural heritage, fostering stronger military ties.
