National Voters’ Day 2025: Empowering Democracy

On 25th January 2025, National Voters’ Day, was celebrated annually underscoring the importance of voting and commemorates the foundation of the Election Commission of India in 1950.

National Voters’ Day was established in 2011 to encourage voter registration, particularly among young voters, and to promote awareness of democratic participation.
The 2025 theme, “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,” reinforces the significance of voting as a powerful tool for shaping the nation’s future.
January 25 was chosen as it marks the establishment of the Election Commission of India in 1950, an institution critical to ensuring free and fair elections.
This day is pivotal in empowering first-time voters by helping them register and providing them with voter identity cards (EPIC).
National Voters’ Day also celebrates the Election Commission’s dedication to promoting electoral literacy and ensuring transparency in the electoral process through awareness campaigns.
