On 26th January 2025, Jannik Sinner triumphed over Alexander Zverev in straight sets to defend his Australian Open crown, leaving Zverev agonizingly close yet again to a Grand Slam victory.
- Alexander Zverev, the second seed, lost his third Grand Slam final as Jannik Sinner clinched a commanding 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 victory at Rod Laver Arena.
- Sinner, the world number one, secured his second consecutive Australian Open title, extending Zverev’s wait for a maiden Grand Slam trophy.
- This defeat adds to Zverev’s painful losses in the 2020 U.S. Open final and the 2024 French Open final, where he squandered significant leads in both matches.
