On 11th April 2025, NITI Aayog released a report titled “Automotive Industry: Powering India’s Participation in Global Value Chains”, offering a roadmap for India’s integration into global automotive markets.

- The report highlighted India’s potential as a key player in the global auto industry.
 - It categorizes automotive components into four segments—Emerging & Complex, Conventional & Complex, Conventional & Simple, and Emerging & Simple—to target strategic interventions.
 - The report recommends both fiscal and non-fiscal policies to enhance India’s global competitiveness in auto manufacturing and exports.
 - Global automobile production hit 94 million units in 2023, with the components market valued at $2 trillion; India produced 6 million vehicles and held a $70 billion share in auto components.
 - India, already a global leader in small cars and utility vehicles, aims to strengthen its status as a low-cost, high-quality manufacturing and export hub under the Make in India initiative.
