BSE Celebrates 150 Years of Economic Leadership

On 17th April 2025, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised the Bombay Stock Exchange’s (BSE) role in economic development and technological excellence during its 150th-anniversary celebration.
- BSE, Asia’s oldest stock exchange, marked a significant milestone by completing 150 years, with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attending as the chief guest.
- With a market capitalization of Rs 400 lakh crore, BSE now ranks among the top global exchanges, signifying its central role in the global financial ecosystem.
- A new benchmark index, the BSE 150 Index, was launched to track the top 150 listed companies based on market capitalization and liquidity, offering investors broader market insights.
